The Horn Farm Mission
Bringing people together to directly experience sustainable agriculture, the Center promotes the rich heritage of our land and the fundamental importance of local agriculture to the health and well-being of our community, our economy and our environment.

How will the Center carry out its mission?
• The Center emphasizes vital local food production and local markets. Since 99.5% of the yearly $900 million spent for food each year by local residents currently leaves the County, the opportunity exists to bring food dollars back into local farmers' pockets and into the local economy.
• A unique feature of the Center will be the Incubator Farms Project, where independent farmers will lease acreage at the Center to establish small-scale farms. The project will demonstrate sustainable farming practices, innovative marketing and the economic viability of small-scale farming into the future.
• Present-day modern agriculture is demonstrated by the Flinchbaugh's daily use of a large part of the farm for high production agriculture and best farming practices.
• Future plans call for a demonstration of York County's agricultural past through several historical farms, including a 17th century indian encampment, an 18th century Settlement Farm with log cabin and typical garden and field crops and a 19th century Innovation Farm, with kitchen garden, orchard and innovative practices.

• Both youth and the general public will have opportunities to participate in and experience multiple aspects of the Center’s educational operations.
